Sunday, June 14th sees the return of the formerly annual MUF tournament, the Kings & Queen's Hat! The tournament will be held on the Sports Ovals at Monash Uni, Clayton (same place as trainings). It is a one day tournament, where you'd expect to play 4-5 games (roughly 45-60mins in length) and lunch is provided as part of the player fee.
The format of Kings & Queen's Hat tournament means that at the beginning of each match, names are randomly drawn out and put into teams. If your team wins that match, you score a point. At the end of the tournament, the male and female with the most points is crowned the King and Queen of the tournament. Like the Hat League at Albert Park (May 11th), this tournament is a great way to meet other Ultimate players, especially those who play for other universities and make up those uni's AUG teams.
If you would like to register your interest to play in the Kings & Queen's Hat Tournament, fill out the online registration form below.
A great 1st training for MUF 2009 last Sunday. The weather was amazing and there was an awesome turnout of 40 people! It was great to see lots of people there who had never played Ultimate before and hopefully they got lots out of a great session put on by team captain Seb Barr.
Training will be run on Sundays, 3pm-5pm for the next month or so leading up to team try-outs in June and Southern Uni Games in early July.
This Sunday's session (May 10th) clashes with Mother's Day, but will be going ahead. Everyone is welcome to come down but we totally understand if you have family commitments. Also don't worry if you can only make it for part of the session, everyone is free to come and go as it suits their schedule.
In other news; league at Albert Park resumes on Monday, May 11 with a friendly Hat League. A Hat Tournament/League is where all players register their names with the tournament director and from that teams are drawn "out of a hat". It is a pretty great way to meet other Ultimate players you would otherwise never play on the same team as. Coming down to this Monday is free and does not commit you to playing for MUF for the whole season so if you're thinking you'd like to see what league Ultimate is like, come check it out! More details on the 'League' page.
Competitive league at Albert Park resumes on Monday, May 18th. For the Winter season, MUF has entered two teams! That means lots of open slots on the rosters for those who are new to the sport and would like to play and train regularly. There will be league games every Monday (except Queen's Birthday - June 8th) until mid-August. If you're interested in playing, get in touch with Ashleigh. The fixture for the upcoming season should be finalised soon and when it is it'll be posted on the 'League' page.

If you would like to register your interest to play in the Kings & Queen's Hat Tournament, you will need to become a member of the AFDA (governing body of Ultimate in Australia). Membership is free and registration is very simple.
The location for MUF training today (and all Sundays following this one) have been moved to Oval 2 at Monash Uni, Clayton.
We've just been informed by Monash Sport that Oval 1 has been infected with a grass disease and in order to prevent it from spreading to other fields no one is to use Oval 1.
Apologies for the late notice, we'll still be meeting at Oval 1 at 3pm this week (Sunday, May 3rd)
A reminder that MUF's first club training session for 2009 is coming up. It is on Sunday, May 3rd from 3pm-5pm on Oval 1 at Monash Uni, Clayton Campus (See 'Training' page for a map if required).
Open to all, from those who have never played to those who have played for Australia!
We'll have discs for sale and there will also be the opportunity to signup for MUF membership if you haven't aleady done so.
This is a great opportunity to meet existing members of the club, especially if you want to play league for the upcoming Winter season.
Try to bring a light and a dark shirt (for a scratch match at the end), a water bottle and cleats/footy boots if you have them (otherwise you'll be fine in runners also).
