AUG Tryouts - Sunday, July 19th & 26th PDF Print
Written by Ashleigh
Wednesday, 15 July 2009 14:27
We are about to get back into second semester, and it kicks off this Sunday, July 19th, with tryouts for the AUG team. The tryouts will run across two Sundays (July 19th & 26th) and are compulsory (both of them) for anyone wanting to make the team. The team will be made up of 9 boys and 7 girls.

However, this year we will also be selecting an extra 2 boys and 2 girls to make up the squad. They will train with us and be available should someone get injured or dropped due to lack of committment after selection. These players will be people we think have a lot of potential and players we hope will make up part of the team next year.

The tryouts will be held on Sunday at Monash Clayton (usual place) from 2.30pm. This is earlier than usual, but Camby (the new coach) needs to get a good look at everyone because he really doesn't know anyone. They will consist of some drills, and then a game from about 3.30pm against Camby's mixed nats team. We played them last weekend, and we were comprehensively beaten - lets try and get a few more points on the board this week!

The selection of the team will be made by Camby, and the Committee. Selection is not solely based on this Sunday's tryouts, but also on committment and club involvement during the year to date. Attending the tryouts however are a pre-requisite.

Having said all of that, if you don't want to try out, you are still most welcome to come down for a run and a throw on Sunday. Just let us know when you get there that you are not interested in selection :)

The team will be announced at the end of July.

I hope to see everyone on Sunday, AUG here we come!!!

Training - Sunday, July 12th PDF Print

I would just like to say thanks, and congratulations to everyone who played SUG this week.  For those who don't know, we won silver.  It was a great tournament and we were beaten in the final by Flinders Uni who played an excellent zone defence.  It was my first tournament with Monash in a couple of years and it was great to be playing with the team again!!

I know I said previously there would be no training on Sunday, but there is.  2.30pm at Monash Clayton - it is a practice match and the first tryouts with our new coach.   I know some people cant make it, but it would be VERY wise to attend if you are in Victoria and interested in playing AUG.  Camby (our new coach) only has 3 weeks to pick the team so the more he sees you, the better chance you have :)

It will also be great practice to play against his mixed nationals team. They will definately be able to help us in our quest for AUG gold :)

See you all soon!

Ash :)

Thanks to Chris, Grace and Ash for putting on an amazing trivia night. We had close to 130 people in attendance and it looked like everyone had a good time. Congratulations to Flinders Uni, who's table scored the highest overall score, beating out a fast finishing Arith My Tick. I'll hopefully have some photos of the night up soon.

Tomorrow is Southern Uni Games (SUG)!! MUF's first game is at 9am against Melbourne Uni. If you've got nothing on, come on down, check it out and cheer on MUF! Full details on the Unigames page. Will try to have scores posted on here as they come to hand.
